Patience Sambrook, Chair

Patience came to her first ESPOPF meeting in July 2007, the Launch of "Bleak Housing". She came on the Committee, joined the ESPOPF Researchers and is now Chair.She taught English as a Foreign Language for immigrants and was a magistrate for 30 years.

Her interests are modern society, entertaining and experimenting with organic food from her garden.

Jackie Charles, Vice Chair

Jackie's indispensable committee skills result from working as a personal assistant to a company director. She has been Chair and is an ESPOPF Researcher. She has more sympathy for tablet-takers since a recent sudden illness necessitates daily pills as described in "Pills & Perils"

She is interested in reading and the theatre. Her ambitions as a gardner were dashed by periodic visits from marauding deer.

Diane Andrewes, Hon. Secretary

Diane is a founder member of ESPOPF. She has served as Hon. Secretary since 2000 and as a researcher. She ran a residential Research Seminar, sponsored by Help the Aged, in 2007 for 35 older people's forum delegates from all over the UK.

She is a retired lecturer with interests in community work, footpaths, choral singing, sport and the theatre.

Betty Lawrence, Hon Treasurer

Betty worked in the Post Office for many years and became Postmistress at Woolston. The speed with which she added up was spotted and she has been Hon Treasurer for the last 4 years. She is also Membership Secretary and organises transport and meal tickets at Open Meetings.

She was a cornet player and married her husband, John, a trombonist from her Group. They still have a great interest in brass bands and local history.

David Andrewes, Webmaster

David has gradually accumulated jobs in ESPOPF since it was founded in 2000. First he became Database Organiser, then ESPOPF Accounts Scrutineer, then an ESPOPF Researcher, then temporary Hon Treasurer and recently, Webmaster.

A retired G.P. his interests include historical dance, consort recorder playing and modern Greek.
